Rick is a Registered Social Worker providing individual, couples and family therapy to adults in St. John’s, NL.
He specializes in the areas of couples and relationship therapy, and sex therapy. Rick has experience working with couples and relationships on issues relating to communication and conflict, infidelity and betrayal, and intimacy and sexuality.
His sex therapy practice focuses on sexual health, sexual dysfunction, identity, and out-of-control sexual behaviours (i.e. sex and pornography addiction, preoccupation with masturbation, multiple infidelities, sex with anonymous partners or sex workers, and sexual risk-taking). Rick is BDSM, sex- and kink-positive and has experience working with non-traditional relationships (i.e. consensual non-monogamy, open relationships, polyamory, and mixed orientation).
Rick attended Memorial University and earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Social Work and Sociology, a Certificate in Criminology and a Master of Social Work with a focus in clinical therapy and leadership.
He is intensively trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Sex Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
Rick has completed the Intensive Sex Therapy Training Program at the University of Guelph and regularly takes part in education and training to provide the most current evidence-based therapy practices. He is registered to practice in Newfoundland & Labrador and Ontario.
